Vilinsky, Oleksander [Вілінський, Олександер; Vilins'kyj], b 4 September 1872 in Sestroretsk, Saint Petersburg gubernia, Russia, d 10 December 1928 in Poděbrady, Czechoslovakia. Mechanical engineer and civic leader; husband of Valeriia O’Connor-Vilinska. He lectured (from 1908) at the Kyiv Polytechnical Institute and other schools. He was a member of the Society of Ukrainian Progressives and the Ukrainian Scientific Society in Kyiv. In 1917 he became a member of the Central Rada and was appointed director of the Department of Vocational Education at the UNR General Secretariat of Public Education. In 1918 he was appointed consul general for Ukraine in Geneva. From 1923 he taught at the Ukrainian Husbandry Academy in Poděbrady, from 1925 as a professor of mechanical engineering. His publications include technical papers in Ukrainian, German, and Russian and the textbook Narysna heometriia (Projective Geometry, 1923).
