Ukrainian People's Democratic party

Ukrainian People's Democratic party (Ukrainska narodno-demokratychna partiia, or UNDP). A political group established in 1942 among left-wing members of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) then fighting in Volhynia with Taras Borovets's Ukrainian Insurgent Army. The UNDP was inspired by Ivan Mitrynga, and the other leading members were V. Turchmanovych, V. Ryvak, and Borys Levytsky. The manifesto announcing its political program was critical of both the German occupation and the ideological foundations and political practices of the OUN. The new group failed to attract members and soon dissolved itself. After the Second World War a number of its members in the West joined the left wing of the Ukrainian Revolutionary Democratic party (the Vpered group).
