Ukrainian Association of Victims of Russian Communist Terror (Союз українців жертв російського комуністичного терору; Soiuz ukraintsiv zhertv rosiiskoho komunistychnoho teroru, or СУЖЕРО; SUZhERO). Initiated in 1950 in Toronto by Semen Pidhainy, its first head, the society consisted of survivors of Soviet repression. It was dedicated to publicizing the misdeeds of the Soviet regime in Ukraine and prepared The Black Deeds of the Kremlin: A White Book (2 vols, 1953) and other publications. The group had a democratic orientation and supported the Government-in-exile of the Ukrainian National Republic. At one time there were up to 15 branches in Canada.
