Ukraïns’kyi teatr
Ukraïns’kyi teatr («Український театр»; Ukrainian Theater). An illustrated bimonthly journal published in Kyiv. Established in 1970, it has been published under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture by the Ukrainian Theatrical Society. During Soviet period, the materials presented in the journal focused on the development of Soviet Ukrainian theater, the history of Ukrainian theater, the contemporary Soviet theatrical repertoire, public figures in the theater world, and the activities of ‘progressive’ foreign theaters. Following Ukraine’s independence and the abolition of censorship, the journal has become the leading periodical in Ukraine discussing the issues of modern Ukrainian and world theater. Its predecessor (1936–41) was Teatr. In 1954–69 theatrical affairs were covered in the arts magazine Mystetstvo.
