Tyminsky, Ivan [Тимінський, Іван; Tymins'kyj], b 1852 in Piadykivtsi, Bukovyna, d 1902. Bukovynian civic and political leader and government finance official; brother of Taras Tyminsky. One of the region’s leading populists, he helped to wrest control of the Ruska Besida in Bukovyna (1884) and the Ruska Rada society (1885) from the Russophiles. In 1884 he was one of the founders of the Ukrainian People's Home in Chernivtsi. He also helped to establish and edit the semimonthly Bukovyna, which in 1885 began publication in the vernacular. In 1890 he was elected to the Bukovynian Diet. His articles appeared in Bukovyna and Dilo.
