Turiia River
Turiia River [Турія or Тур’я; Turija or Tur'ja]. (Map: Turiia River.) A right-bank tributary of the Prypiat River that flows for 184 km through Volhynia oblast and drains a basin area of 2,900 sq km. The river is 3–4 m wide in its upper reaches and 5–10 m wide along its lower course. It has a wide marshy valley and is a central feature in a regional drainage system. The river freezes over from December to late March. The town of Turiisk and the city of Kovel, which has a water reservoir, are situated on it.
