Tsurkovsky, Antin

Tsurkovsky, Antin [Цурковський, Антін; Curkovs'kyj] or Curkowsky, Anthony, b 24 February 1882 in Zolochiv, Galicia, d 31 July 1955 in Camden, New Jersey, USA. Journalist and civic figure; member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society. After being educated in Berezhany he emigrated to the United States of America, where he edited Svoboda (1907–9, 1911) and Ameryka (Philadelphia) (1914–26). Subsequently he served as recording secretary of the Providence Association of Ukrainian Catholics in America (1926–55). He translated some English literature into Ukrainian and wrote popular articles.
