Tratsevsky, Mykhailo

Tratsevsky, Mykhailo [Трацевський, Михайло; Tracevs'kyj, Myxajlo], b 3 January 1897 in Liubinichy, Babruisk county, Minsk gubernia, d 1979. Demographer and statistician. After graduating from the Kyiv Institute of the National Economy (1924) he worked at the Demographic Institute of the All-Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. He wrote a historical study of the populations of Ukrainian towns from 1825 to 1926 (unpublished) and published an analysis of Kyiv’s population (1929) and infant mortality in Ukraine (1936). In 1937 he was arrested with his colleagues and sent to Siberia.
