Tomaszów Lubelski (Ukrainian: Томашів [Tomashiv]). Map: III-4. A town (2006 pop 20,118) on the Solokiia River on the Roztochia plateau in the southern Kholm region and a county town in Lublin voivodeship, Poland. It is on the border of Ukrainian ethnic territory. In 1931 Ukrainians represented 6.3 percent of the town's population, Jews, 54.3 percent, and Poles, 38.1 percent. But in Tomaszów county Ukrainians accounted for 43.6 percent of the population in 1905, 23.8 percent in 1921, and 26.8 percent in 1931. In 1946–7 the remaining Ukrainian inhabitants of the county were forcibly resettled (see Operation Wisła and Resettlement).
