Sloviansk Pedagogical University

Sloviansk Pedagogical University [Слов’янський державний педагогічний університет; Slovianskyi derzhavnyi pedahohichnyi universytet]. An institution of higher education, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine, located in the city of Sloviansk, Donetsk oblast. It was founded, as Sloviansk Pedagogical Institute, in 1954 on the basis of the Sloviansk Teacher's Institute (est. 1939). The university has nine faculties: psychology, technology, preschool pedagogy, economy and management, elementary-school teacher training, physics and mathematics, philology, physical education, and handicapped child education. The institute is fully equipped with study facilities, laboratories, and workshops. The library has over 500,000 volumes in its collection. The student enrollment is ca. 12,000.
