Separate Cavalry Division of the Army of the UNR
Separate Cavalry Division of the Army of the UNR (Окрема кінна дивізія Армії УНР; Okrema kinna dyviziia Armii UNR). Organized within the Army of the Ukrainian National Republic in May 1920 by consolidating various smaller units, it consisted of two cavalry brigades of two regiments each. The division was commanded by brigadier general Ivan Omelianovych-Pavlenko and had 3,000 cavalrymen. It was active until 21 November 1920, when, defending the army’s rear, it crossed the Zbruch River and surrendered to the Poles.
