Ruskii Sion [Рускій Сіонъ; Ruthenian Sion]. A semimonthly organ of the Ukrainian Catholic Lviv archeparchy published from 1871 to 1885 in Lviv. It was established on the initiative of Metropolitan Yosyf Sembratovych and was initially called Sion ruskii (1871–2). In 1880 he briefly closed the newspaper for publishing an article that offended him. It was then renamed Halytskii Sion, and it came out under this title until the end of 1882, when it reverted to being called Ruskii Sion. It published articles on theology and on church history and canon law, sermons, and, primarily, reports from local parishes. Its editors included Revs Yuliian Pelesh, Y. Milnytsky, Klyment Karol Sarnytsky, Oleksii Toronsky, Oleksander Bachynsky, and Ivan Bartoshevsky.
