Romanovsky, Oleksii
Romanovsky, Oleksii [Романовський, Олексій; Romanovs'kyj, Oleksij], b 18 February 1918 in Talova Balka, Oleksandriia county, Kherson gubernia, 2 November 2014 in Kyiv. Literary scholar and politician. He graduated from the Kyiv Pedagogical Institute (1951) and the CC CPSU Academy of Social Sciences (1958) and became scholarly secretary of the Institute of Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. A secretary of the Kyiv City Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine (CPU), in 1964 and again in 1977 he was appointed rector of the Kyiv Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages, and later, rector of the Kyiv Pedagogical Institute. From 1973 to 1977 he was minister of culture of the Ukrainian SSR, and in 1976 he was elected to the Auditing Commission of the CC CPU.
