Reshetylivka

Reshetylivka [Решетилівка; Rešetylivka]. Map: IV-15. A town smt (2011 pop 9,297) on the Hovtva River and a raion center in Poltava oblast. It is first mentioned in historical documents in 1638. Under the Hetman state it was a company center of Poltava regiment (1648–1775). In 1696 the town was destroyed by the Crimean Tatars. Peter I signed the Reshetylivka Articles of 1709 there. In the 19th century the town belonged to Poltava county in Poltava gubernia and became known for its folk handicrafts. Today its factories specialize in traditional kilims, woven cloths, embroidered shirts, blouses, tablecloths, napkins, and rushnyky.
