Program music

Program music. Instrumental music, composed around a particular theme from literature, history, or nature, that is used to tell a story or illustrate an ideal. Notable examples of program music by Ukrainian composers include the symphonic poem Taras Shevchenko by Kostiantyn Dankevych, Dusha poeta (The Soul of a Poet) by Andrii Shtoharenko, the piano cycle Liubov (Love) by Vasyl Barvinsky, the symphonic Hutsulian Pictures by Lev Kolodub, and several works by Valerii Kikta, including his Frescos of Saint Sophia.
