Pihuliak, Yustyn [Пігуляк, Юстин; Pihuljak, Justyn], b 2 June 1845 in Novi Mamaivtsi (now Novosilka), Bukovyna, d 2 June 1919 in Chernivtsi. Painter; brother of Yerotei Pihuliak. After graduating from the Vienna Academy of Arts in 1874, he taught painting at the Higher Realschule in Chernivtsi until 1906. He did genre paintings (eg, Hutsuls, Bukovynian Girl, Love and Fidelity), landscapes, paintings inspired by Taras Shevchenko’s poems, and portraits of Yurii Fedkovych (1886), Sydir Vorobkevych (1887), Shevchenko (1889), and Olha Kobylianska (1916).
