Petrykivka

Petrykivka [Петриківка]. Map: V-15. A town smt (2011 pop 4,913) on the Chaplynka River and raion center in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. In the mid-18th century a Cossack and peasant settlement sprang up around Petryk’s homestead. It soon became known for its distinctive pattern of decorative Petrykivka painting. In the late 1940s a art school was set up. The town is also known for its embroidery, kilims, and woven fabrics.
