Pelensky, Zenon
Pelensky, Zenon [Пеленський, Зенон; Pelens'kyj], b 26 July 1902 in Tulyholovy, Rudky county, Galicia, d 30 October 1979 in Munich, West Germany. Journalist and political activist. In interwar Galicia he was a founding member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and an active member of the Ukrainian National Democratic Alliance (UNDO). He served as the Berlin correspondent of the Lviv daily Dilo (1926–8) and was a regular contributor to Rozbudova natsiï (1928–34), the OUN journal published in Prague. He also served as chief editor of Ukraïns’kyi holos (Peremyshl) (1929–32), the UNDO organ Svoboda (Lviv) (1936–8), and the Lviv daily Novyi chas (1938–9). As a postwar refugee in Munich, he edited the weekly Ukraïns’ka trybuna (1946–7) and Ukraïns’kyi samostiinyk (1950) and worked for the Ukrainian broadcast section at Radio Liberty (1955–67).
