Ostrovsky, Isaak
Ostrovsky, Isaak [Островський, Ісаак; Ostrovs'kyj], b 25 March 1909 in Kostiantynohrad (now Krasnohrad), Poltava gubernia, d 13 January 2022 in Kharkiv. Radio physicist. He graduated from the Kharkiv Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics Institute (1932, now part of Kharkiv University) and worked at the Kharkiv Chemical Technology Institute (1932–52, from 1950 a part of the Kharkiv Polytechnical Institute) and the Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1944–55). He headed a department at the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. His main contributions were in the field of the propagation and dispersion of millimeter waves.
