Orenshtain, Yakiv
Orenshtain, Yakiv [Оренштайн, Яків; Orenštajn, Jakiv], b 25 February 1875 in Kolomyia, d 12 September 1942 in Warsaw. Jewish-Ukrainian owner of the Ukrainska Nakladnia publishing house in Kolomyia (from 1903) and Berlin (1919–32), which published hundreds of Ukrainian books. In 1933 Orenshtain moved to Warsaw, where he ran a bookstore. He disappeared in 1939 after the Germans occupied Warsaw, and was executed by the nazis in the Warsaw ghetto.
