Ohonovsky, Petro
Ohonovsky, Petro [Огоновський, Петро; Ohonovs’kyj], b 20 July 1853 in Rohatyn county, Galicia, d 9 February 1917 in Ukraine. Pedagogue and civic activist; full member of the Shevchenko Scientific Society (NTSh) from 1899; brother of Omelian Ohonovsky, Oleksander Ohonovsky, and Ilarii Ohonovsky. He graduated from Lviv University and then taught mathematics and physics at the Academic Gymnasium of Lviv (1885–1914). He was head of the Prosvita society (1906–10) and an active member of the NTSh. Ohonovsky also wrote mathematics and physics textbooks.
