Nyzhankivsky, Oleh [Нижанківський, Олег; Nyžankivs'kyj], b 25 July 1924 in Vienna, Austria, d 8 January 2003 in Geneva, Switzerland. Opera and concert singer (baritone); son of Nestor Nyzhankivsky, husband of Zoia Lisovska, and father of Lada-Ariana Nyzhankivska. Educated in Belgium and Milan (where in 1957 he studied voice under F. Carpi), he graduated from the Geneva Conservatory, and then began performing in Swiss opera theaters (from 1963 at the Grand Theater of Geneva; from 1966 at the Collegium Academicum) as well as on Geneva radio and television. He performed in the world premiere of F. Martin’s opera Monsieur de Pourceaugnac (after Molière), staged in Geneva in April 1963 and broadcast live. His repertoire included art songs by his father, Nestor Nyzhankivsky, and his uncle, Omelian Nyzhankivsky, by Stefaniia Turkevych-Lukiianovych, and by Antin Rudnytsky.
