Nyzhankivska-Snihurovych, Dariia
Nyzhankivska-Snihurovych, Dariia [Нижанківська-Снігурович, Дарія; Nyžankivs'ka-Snihurovyč, Darija], b 18 August 1916 in Lviv, Galicia, d 23 July 1980 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Ballerina, choreographer, and pedagogue; daughter of Amvrosii Nyzhankivsky, sister of Bohdan Nyzhankivsky. A pupil of M. Slavenska (Prague) and Valentyn Pereiaslavets (Lviv), in 1939–44 she was the soloist in the Lviv Theater of Opera and Ballet. In 1944–7 she led a ballet studio in Innsbruck, Austria. Then she emigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg (1950), where she organized the ballet school of Ukrainian dance at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
