Moloda Ukraïna, children’s magazine

Moloda Ukraïna, children’s magazine, («Молода Україна»; Young Ukraine). The first and only Ukrainian-language children's magazine in Russian-ruled Ukraine before the First World War, published in Kyiv (1906 [1 issue], 1908–12) and Hadiach (1914 [4 issues]) as a monthly supplement to Ridnyi krai. Edited by Olena Pchilka, it contained stories and poems by Khrystia Alchevska, Lesia Ukrainka, Maksym Rylsky, Taras Shevchenko, Stepan Rudansky, Stepan Vasylchenko, and others, and stories translated from Russian (Nikolai Gogol, Mikhail Lermontov, Leo Tolstoi), English (Jonathan Swift, Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde), and other languages. A total of 64 issues appeared.
