Molochne Lake
Molochne Lake [Молочне озеро or Молочний лиман; Moločne ozero or Molochnyi lyman]. Map: VII-16. A saltwater lake located in the southwestern part of Zaporizhia oblast along the Sea of Azov coast. Molochne Lake was formed as a result of the flooding of the plain at the mouth of the Molochna River by the Sea of Azov. The lake is separated from the sea by a sandy strip of land up to 500 m in width. The lake is 32 km long and up to 8 km wide (168 sq km). Its average depth is 1.5 to 2 m, and the maximum depth is 9 m. The Tashchenak River and the Dzhekelnia River also flow into the lake. The Kyrylivka health resort is located on the lake and uses its mud and brine for curative applications.
