Manastyrsky, Vitold

Manastyrsky, Vitold [Манастирський, Вітольд; Manastyrs'kyj, Vitol'd], b 11 January 1915 in Lviv, 22 June 1992 in Lviv. Painter; son of Antin Manastyrsky. A graduate of the Warsaw Academy of Arts (1939), from 1947 he lectured at the Lviv Institute of Applied and Decorative Art. He has painted landscapes of the Carpathian Mountains, the Crimea, and the Baltic regions, portraits, genre paintings, and still lifes. His works include Century-old Grandmother (1935), Group of Hutsul Folk Musicians (1951), Haystacks (1956), Highland Girl (1960), Mount Chornohora (1963), At the Foot of Mount Sokil (1965), Blooming Dzembronia (1967), Marichka (1973), and Happy Childhood (1979). A book about him by M. Tkachenko was published in 1977.
