Lysty do pryiateliv («Листи до приятелів»; Letters to Friends). A journal of politics, history, and culture, published as a monthly (March 1953–December 1960), bimonthly (January 1961–April 1965), and trimonthly (May 1965–December 1967) in New York. It was associated with the milieu of the Union of Ukrainian National Democrats. Its founder and chief editor was Mykola Shlemkevych; after his death in February 1966 the journal was edited by V. Rudko and then by an editorial board consisting of Dmytro Kuzyk, Mykola Stepanenko, and Ostap Tarnavsky. Lysty do pryiateliv contained essays and reports on a wide range of developments in Ukraine and on Ukrainian émigré life and Western culture, memoirs, and book and art reviews. It was nonpartisan, and frequently criticized the émigré Ukrainian establishment. Its contributors included prominent émigré figures. An index to the journal by Roman Savytsky Jr, was published in two parts (1964, 1969).
