Losky, Ihor

Losky, Ihor [Лоський, Ігор; Los'kyj], b 15 December 1900 in Lublin, Poland, d 27 May 1936 in Lviv. Historian; son of Kost Losky. As a student at the Ukrainian gymnasium in Kyiv he took part in the Battle of Kruty. After graduating from the Ukrainian Free University in Prague (PH D, 1927) he worked at the Ukrainian Scientific Institute in Berlin (1927–32) and then taught French and German at the Greek Catholic Theological Seminary in Lviv. He contributed historical articles to Zhyttia i znannia and helped edit Khliborobs’kyi shliakh and Ridna shkola. He specialized in the culture of the Hetman state and 19th-century revolutionary movements in Ukraine.
