Lisovska, Zoia [Лісовська, Зоя; Lisovs'ka, Zoja], b 14 April 1925 in Lviv. Artist; daughter of Robert Lisovsky and Stefaniia Turkevych-Lukiianovych; wife of Oleh Nyzhankivsky; mother of Lada-Ariana Nyzhankivska. A postwar displaced person and refugee, she studied at the Vienna Art Academy (1945–6), received a national diploma in design from the London Polytechnic of Art (1951), and studied painting at the Rome Academy of Fine Arts (1952–5). A resident of Geneva, where she teaches painting and drawing, she has created paintings (gouache landscapes, portraits, and other compositions), frescoes, stained-glass windows, mosaics, enamels, ceramics, sculptures, lithographs, and woodcuts. Solo exhibitions of her works have been held in Munich (1957), Geneva (1960), Rio de Janeiro (1961), New York (1964, 1970), Toronto (1964, 1984), and Chicago (1974). Joint exhibitions of the works of Lisovska, her father, and her daughter, were held in New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC, in 1989, in London in 1990, and in Lviv in 1991.
