Likars’kyi visnyk («Лікарський вісник»; Physician’s Herald). A professional medical journal published by the Ukrainian Medical Association of North America, published since May 1954, at first semiannually and since 1958 quarterly. In 1962 its office moved from New York to Chicago. About one-third of the journal is devoted to scientific articles, including original research, conference papers, and reviews of medical publications. Another third addresses issues from the history of Ukrainian medicine, such as medical terminology, surviving practices of folk medicine, personal memoirs, and histories of medical institutions. The remaining third deals with current affairs: reports of the association’s sections, bulletins from the executive, biographies, and obituaries. The journal has been edited by Roman Osinchuk (1954–5, 1958–61), Yaroslav Voievidka (1956–7), Toma Lapychak (1962–6), and Paul Dzul (1967–2003). Its covers have been designed by Jacques Hnizdovsky, O. Moshynska, Edvard Kozak, G. Khudikian, and Lida Palii.
