Leontovych, Volodymyr H.
Leontovych, Volodymyr H. [Леонтович, Володимир; Leontovyč], b 27 July 1881 in Hadiach, Poltava gubernia, d 29 April 1968 in Kyiv. Construction engineer and architect. He graduated from the Kyiv Polytechnical Institute in 1906, where he studied the architecture of historic buildings in Ukraine, particularly in Volhynia, and conducted the restoration of major architectural monuments in Zhytomyr and the ancient castle in Ostroh. With V. Maksymov and Ivan Izhakevych he erected the church-monument at the Kozatski Mohyly Museum and Preserve near Berestechko (now the Battlefield of Berestechko National Historic Memorial Preserve). Leontovych also taught at engineering schools and wrote papers on the applications of geodesic measurements in civil engineering.
