Lamakh, Valerii
Lamakh, Valerii [Ламах, Валерій; Lamax, Valerij], b 6 March 1925 in Lebedyn, Kharkiv gubernia, d 24 May 1978 in Kyiv. Graphic artist, painter, and muralist. A graduate of the Kyiv State Art Institute (1948), he designed posters, took part in the creation of the mosaic wall panels inside the Kyiv River Station (1961) and Boryspil Airport (1965), and created the monumental wall panel inside the Palace of Culture of the Chemical Production Complex in Dniprodzerzhynsk (1968–70). In the early 1960s he did paintings (only recently brought to public attention) that could be considered examples of abstract expressive in Ukrainian art.
