Kyveliuk, Ivan [Кивелюк, Іван; Kyveljuk], b 8 February 1866 in Kniazhyi Kut, Galicia, d 1 March 1922 in Lviv. Civic and political leader. From 1908 to 1918 Kyveliuk was a deputy to the Galician Diet. He was also a leading member of the Prosvita society in Lviv and its president from 1910 to 1922. Under his presidency, the society reached the peak of its development. Its educational programs were expanded and the society began working with the Lviv Silskyi Hospodar society in improving agriculture. Together with Mykhailo Hrushevsky, Kyveliuk also served as president of the Provincial School Union. In the early 1920s Kyveliuk was imprisoned by the Polish authorities and he died shortly after his release.
