Kosenko, Ilarion

Kosenko, Ilarion [Косенко, Іларіон], b 19 October 1888 in Zinkiv, Poltava gubernia, d 10 October 1950 in Paris. Political and civic figure. He studied in Saint Petersburg where he was avtive in the Ukrainian Student Hromada in Saint Petersburg. A member of the Ukrainian Party of Socialist Revolutionaries, he was elected to the Labor Congress, convened by the Directory of the Ukrainian National Republic in January 1919. Then he was in charge of the Kyiv postal and telegraph district. In 1920 he served briefly as minister of postal and telegraph services in Viacheslav Prokopovych’s cabinet. Emigrating in 1920, he settled in Paris and was active in the Ukrainian community. He was the business manager of the weekly Tryzub (1925–40) and chairman of the Board of Directors of the Petliura Ukrainian Library (1942–50).
