Korpaniuk [Korpanjuk]. The family name of Hutsul master wood-carvers living in Yavoriv (now in Kosiv raion, Ivano-Frankivsk oblast): the grandsons of Yu. Shkribliak, the brothers Yurii (12 September 1892–19 April 1977), Semen (14 September 1894–20 November 1970), Petro (1897–12 February 1961); and Semen's son Vasyl (b 18 May 1922). Their finely engraved and encrusted wooden plates, boxes, chests, barrels, and walking sticks have been widely exhibited since the 1920s in Ukraine and abroad and are preserved in ethnographic museums in Kolomyia (the Kolomyia Museum of Hutsul Folk Art), Lviv (the Lviv Museum of Folk Architecture and Folkways), Kyiv (the National Museum of Ukrainian Decorative Folk Art), and elsewhere and in private collections. Yurii and Semen were awarded the title Merited Master of Folk Creativity of the Ukrainian SSR.
