Koliada, Mykola [Коляда, Микола; Koljada], b 4 April 1907 in Berezivka, Pyriatyn county, Poltava gubernia, d 30 July 1935 in Kharkiv. Composer. A graduate of the Kharkiv Music and Drama Institute (1931), where he studied under Semen Bohatyrov, Koliada worked as a composer in Kharkiv, in the Kharkiv Theater of Working Youth. He was a founding member of the Association of Proletarian Musicians of Ukraine. His works include a symphonic suite on Ukrainian themes (1927), a vocal-symphonic poem Tractor Attack (1932), a piano quintet, a sonata, variations and pieces for violin and piano, arrangements of folk songs, and theatrical and film scores. O. Arnautov wrote a monograph on Koliada in 1936.
