Kokhovsky, Vsevolod
Kokhovsky, Vsevolod [Коховський, Всеволод; Koxovs'kyj; pseuds: Danylo Medovyk, Pohonets], b 14 March 1835 in Starodubivka, Slovianoserbsk county, Katerynoslav gubernia, d 14 May 1891 in Saint Petersburg. Writer and pedagogue. A graduate of the Saint Petersburg Military Academy, he founded and headed a cadet corps pedagogical museum in Saint Petersburg. Member of the Saint Petersburg Ukrainian hromada and an early organizer of popular reading rooms, he wrote a number of articles on education. His earliest literary works, consisting of stories and sketches, appeared in the journal Osnova (Saint Petersburg). Narodoliubets' (Lover of the People, 1870), a novel, is his most notable literary work.
