Knyhar («Книгар»; Bookseller). A monthly journal of bibliography and literary criticism published by the Chas publishing house in Kyiv from September 1917 to March 1920 and edited by Vasyl Koroliv-Stary and Mykola Zerov. Thirty-one issues appeared. Besides a large section devoted to book reviews and bibliography, it contained articles on various aspects of book publishing: eg, Vadym Modzalevsky's study of the history of the book trade in Ukraine, Volodymyr Miiakovsky's review of the history of Russian censorship of Ukrainian books, S. Kondra's analysis of Ukrainian journalistic bibliography, H. Hasenko's assessment of Ukraine's image in the European press, and A. Yarynovych's (pseud of Andrii Nikovsky) survey of the Ukrainian press in North America. Besides these contributors, many other critics and literary historians contributed to the journal: Serhii Yefremov, Zerov, Nikovsky, Mykyta Shapoval, Dmytro Doroshenko, Spyrydon Cherkasenko, Mykola Sadovsky, Pavlo Zaitsev, Liudmyla Starytska-Cherniakhivska, Modest Levytsky, Orest Levytsky, Sofiia Rusova, Yurii Tyshchenko, Oleksander Mytsiuk, and Oleksander Koshyts.
