Kameniari (Chernivtsi)

Kameniari (Chernivtsi) («Каменярі»; Stonecutters). A semimonthly newspaper published by the Free Organization of Ukrainian Teachers in Bukovyna from 1908 to 1914 in Chernivtsi. It was edited first by O. Ivanytsky and then by Iliarii Karbulytsky and Lev Yasinchuk. It was revived after the war and began to appear from 15 February 1921 under the editorship of I. Danylevych. Besides professional and educational questions, the newspaper discussed broader social and political issues; it reached a wide public. Its contributors included Zenon Kuzelia, O. Remez, K. Danyliuk, M. Milkovych, Volodymyr Kmitsykevych, and Myron Korduba. In early November 1922 the paper was banned by the Romanian authorities.
