Kamenetsky, Danylo [Каменецький, Данило; Kamenec’kyj], 1830–81. Publisher, folklorist, and civic figure. An active member of the Saint Petersburg Hromada, he managed Panteleimon Kulish's printing press and the journal Osnova (Saint Petersburg). Thanks to his capable assistance, Taras Shevchenko's Kobzar (1860), Marko Vovchok's Narodni opovidannia (Folk Stories, 1857), and other Ukrainian literary works appeared in print. Kamenetsky introduced popular booklets for the common people that were known as metelyky. He collected Ukrainian folk songs and published a collection of them entitled Ukraïns’ki pisni z holosamy (Ukrainian Songs with Music, 1861).
