Izarsky, Oleksa

Izarsky, Oleksa [Ізарський, Олекса; Izars'kyj], b 30 August 1919 in Poltava, d 28 March 2007 in Lakewood, Ohio, USA. Writer. A graduate of Kyiv University, he was a displaced person in Germany after the Second World War and subsequently emigrated to the United States of America. He contributed prose to various émigré journals and is the author of several novels, including Ranok (Morning, 1963), Viktor i Lialia (Victor and Lialia, 1965), Chudo v Myslovytsiakh (Miracle in Myslovytsi, 1967), Kyïv (Kyiv, 1971), Saksons'ka zyma (A Saxon Winter, 1972), Poltava (1977), Lito nad ozerom (Summer on the Lake, 1981), and the study about Rainer Maria Rilke, Ril'ke na Ukraïni (Rilke in Ukraine, 1952).
