Ivankivtsi settlement
Ivankivtsi settlement [Іванківське поселення; Ivankivske poselennia]. An early Slavic settlement of the Cherniakhiv culture (4th–6th century AD) discovered outside Ivankivtsi, Nova Ushytsia raion, Khmelnytskyi oblast. Investigations in 1951–2 and 1959–61 uncovered the remains of surface dwellings and storage pits, fragments of pottery, traces of iron working, iron knives, bronze fibulae, and silver Roman coins. Three granite idols that were discovered there are one of the earliest examples of sculpture in Ukraine. They are preserved at the Kamianets-Podilskyi Historical Museum and Preserve and the Chernivtsi Regional Studies Museum.
