Hrabovetsky, Volodymyr
Hrabovetsky, Volodymyr [Грабовецький, Володимир; Hrabovec'kyj], b 24 July 1928 in Pechenizhyn, Kolomyia county, Galicia, d 4 December 2015 in Ivano-Frankivsk. Historian. In 1960 he was appointed senior research associate at the Department of Ukrainian History of the Institute of Social Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR in Lviv. His works deal mainly with Ukrainian history of the 16th–18th centuries, particularly the opryshoks in the Carpathian Mountains. The more important are Selians'kyi rukh na Prykarpatti u druhii polovyni XVII–pershii polovyni XVIII st. (The Peasant Movement in Subcarpathia in the Second Half of the 17th and the First Half of the 18th Century, 1962) and Antyfeodal'na borot'ba karpats'koho opryshkivstva XVI–XIX st. (The Antifeudal Struggle of Carpathian Opryshoks in the 16th–19th Centuries, 1966).
