Hoverlia [Говерля; Hoverlja]. Map: V-5. The highest mountain in Ukraine (2,061 m); part of the Chornohora mountain group in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains. The springs from which the Prut River originates are found here. Hoverlia is marked by postglacial depressions and a rocky peak that gives way to jagged slopes covered with brush and then beech and coniferous forests. It is located at the boundary between the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve and Carpathian National Nature Park.
