Halychanyn (1893–1913)

Halychanyn (1893–1913) (The Galician). Daily newspaper published in Lviv from 1893 to 1913 by Russophile Galicians subsidized by the Russian government and supported by the Polish authorities. It replaced Halytskaia Rus’. Its editors (V. Lutsyk, Ivan Pelekh, Osyp Markov, and others) opposed the Ukrainian national orientation. Semimonthly supplements included Vienochek (1904–8), an illustrated children's magazine, and Lemko (1911–13), edited by Hryhorii Hanuliak and others.
