Cherkasky, Teofan [Черкаський, Теофан; Čerkas'kyj], b 12 March 1892 in Rososha, Kyiv gubernia, d 22 September 1938. Political leader, economist, graduate of the Kyiv Commercial Institute. Cherkasky was a member of the Ukrainian Party of Socialist Revolutionaries. In 1919 he served as minister of the national economy in the Ukrainian National Republic government of Borys Martos, and then as minister for the press and propaganda in the government of Isaak Mazepa. He remained in Ukraine when the Soviets came to power and was eventually arrested, sentenced to 25 years in labor camps, and later executed.
