Berlynsky, Maksym
Berlynsky, Maksym [Берлинський, Максим; Berlyns'kyj], b 17 August 1764 in Nova Sloboda, Putyvl county, Kursk gubernia, d 18 January 1848 in Kyiv. A historian and archeologist, Berlynsky graduated from the Kyivan Mohyla Academy in 1786 and taught in Kyiv from 1788 to 1834. In 1834 he became the chief administrator of Kyiv University. Among his works are ‘Istoricheskoe obozrenie Malorossii i goroda Kieva’ (A Historical Survey of Little Russia and the City of Kyiv) in the almanac Molodyk (1844), Kratkoe opisanie goroda Kieva (A Short Description of the City of Kyiv, 1820), and articles later published in Kievskaia starina and scholarly periodicals.
